The new Project Director is Liina Areng

As of April 2023 Liina Areng took over the EU CyberNet Project Director position from Erkki Leego.

“With 300+ cyber experts, EU CyberNet is an excellent resource for impactful Cyber Capacity Building. I’m very honored to have had an opportunity to lead our great team toward necessary operational excellence and maturity. It has been an exciting, intriguing and fulfilling work journey. I wish a lot of energy and joy to Liina and my dear colleagues in this critical work to make the world safer,” said Erkki Leego.

Liina joined EU CyberNet in 2021 to lead the creation of the Regional Cybersecurity and Cybercrime Competence Centre in the Dominican Republic. This role follows up her previous work in the region through the EU Cyber4Dev project, where she served as Consortium Partner Leader, coordinating Estonian contribution to the first global EU cyber capacity building project. Her excellent work has been recognised at the highest level and Liina has been awarded the Order of the White Star by the Estonian President in 2023.

There is no doubt that Liina brings unique experience and a proven track record of success in the cyber capacity building area, which will be invaluable in meeting the EU CyberNet goals and objectives.

We wish the best of luck to Liina and Erkki in their new upcoming challenges.
