EU CyberNet Summer School kicks off tomorrow in Lisbon

The 3rd EU CyberNet Summer School brings more than 30 trainees, mostly EU CyberNet Expert Pool members for three days to Lisbon, Portugal. This years’ topic is cybersecurity in the critical infrastructure sectors with a focus on maritime.

“The Summer School intends to equip participants with the latest knowledge and skills in cybersecurity, particularly within critical infrastructure sectors. Having the latest knowledge on maritime cybersecurityissues is crucial as the threat landscape particularly in this domain is very dynamic. We have adopted a train-the-trainer approach to not only enhance EU CyberNet Expert Pool members’ own expertise, but also empower them with knowledge to address critical information infrastructure protection challenges as future trainers,” said Liina Areng, the Director of EU CyberNet ahead of the Summer School. 

The Summer School programme will entail following topics: 

  • Critical infrastructures in the EU; 
  • Cybersecurity in critical (maritime) infrastructures; 
  • Cybersecurity (risk) management, internal threats in maritime critical infrastructures; 
  • National cyber environment for enhanced cybersecurity; 
  • Governance aspects of critical infrastructure cyber resilience; 
  • Challenges in set up and operation of CERT/CSIRT in maritime sector; 
  • Practical exercises in dealing cyberattacks, trafficking and planning. 

The Summer School will take place from 21st to 23rd August 2024 in Lisbon, Portugal. The Summer School is co-organised with the National Cybersecurity Centre (Centro Nacional de Cibersegurança, CNCS) and Cybersecurity Digital Innovation Hub (C-HUB).
