EU CyberNet Participated in ASEAN-Japan CIIP Workshop

Kaisa Vooremäe, representing EU CyberNet and Estonian Information System Authority presented in the ASEAN-Japan Critical Information Infrastructure Protection (CIIP) workshop the technical and policy approaches from the European Union and Estonia.

Presentation, titled “Strengthening CI Resilience: From Policy to Practice” discussed common challenges and initiatives in critical information infrastructure (CII) sectors, including CII protection framework, regulatory practices and operational technology (OT) security.

Key take-aways from the European Union and Estonia’s experience in strengthening the cyber resilience of the CII:

  • Legislation is only the starting point. Cyber resilience is built when organisations are able to translate requirements into everyday operations.
  • One size does not fit all. Effective capacity-building requires a tailored approach that reflects the risks and maturity of different critical sectors.
  • Implementation is a continuous process. Practical guidance, training, and exercises are essential to help critical and essential entities adapt to evolving cyber threats.

Participants and speakers represent countries of Asia-Pacific region and Europe, including National Cyber and Crypto Agency of Indonesia (BSSN), Mitsubishi Research Institute, Nagoya Institute of Technology, Philippine CERT (PHCERT), Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA), National Cybersecurity Office of Japan (NCO) and ESIWA+. Workshop is organised by BSSN and NCO.
