CynAct FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions about using the CynAct platform as a stakeholder

When should I publish a CFA?

Ideally, as soon as the need for cyber expertise arises. To increase your chances of receiving interest from experts, we advise you to publish your CFAs as soon you have all information necessary. Experts need at least 1 week to apply for a CFA and another week to deal with all contractual and other logistical obligations. In general, they also need time in advance to prepare for a mission. So, the sooner, the better.

What should I include in a CFA?

The CynAct template is straightforward, and we encourage you to input information under each section. Include as much information as you have available, as this will increase your chances to receiving offers from experts – what are the exact tasks, whether it’s a paid mission, if it entails traveling, etc., as this is information experts look for.

Also, the dates of your mission should be very clear. Having only estimative dates for the missions will decrease your chances for getting offers from experts.

What do I do after I uploaded a CFA?

We encourage you to contact our team, either Silja-Madli Ossip – or Cecilia Popa – , so we can approve your CFA in CynAct.

This allows us to also follow up individually with targeted searches to increase your chances for getting as much interest as possible from the experts.

Can I edit a CFA?

Absolutely, you can go on your CynAct profile and edit your CFA, but keep in mind that EU CyberNet team needs to approve it again. We do encourage you to have all final information ready from the start. This way, the experts who already apply before your edits, will not miss out on novel information.

Can I extend a CFA?

Absolutely, you can go on your CynAct profile and edit your CFA, but keep in mind that EU CyberNet team needs to approve it again. We advise you to do so before the deadline expires. Only if a CFA is still active, meaning the deadline has not passed, will you be able to invite experts separately to apply.

When should I contact the interested experts?

The soonest the CFA has concluded and you made your selection, please inform ALL experts, be it approved, shortlisted or declined. You must contact and inform declined experts as well. Not doing so creates a bad practice and will decrease your chances next time to receive applications. Responding to experts after one month from the deadline is considered a bad practice.

Do I still need to contact experts if they are asked to submit their application outside of CynAct, but they also leave their offers in CynAct?

Yes, please. Even if you request that experts apply on a different platform, you still need to respond to those experts who show their interest in CynAct. Some experts are used to only apply via CynAct. Not communicating further with the experts creates a bad practice and will decrease your chances next time to receive offers.

Also make sure the experts who have shown interest on the CynAct platform, have actually applied on your separate platform.

If I need further support, whom should I contact?

We encourage you to contact our team, either Silja-Madli Ossip – or Cecilia Popa – , so we can better assist you and increase your chances for finding the right experts for your calls.
